Precision CNC milling of a tight-tolerance rotating equipment component on SCPM's 4-axis horizontal machining center

Services

CNC Milling Services

SCPM’s 3-axis vertical and 4-axis horizontal milling centers hold ±0.005 mm precision on shafts, housings, and tight-tolerance rotating equipment components. From single-piece prototypes to repeat OEM production, every part is verified against drawing intent with CMM inspection.

How we hold these numbers

  • Single-Setup Machining: Using 4-axis HMCs, we machine multiple faces in one setup whenever possible. Fewer re-clamping operations mean fewer opportunities for alignment error and better positional accuracy between features.
  • In-Process Probing: For critical components and production runs, in-process probing is used to check for tool wear and thermal drift during machining, helping keep part-to-part variation under control.

Materials we worked

  • Carbon steel (A36, 1045)
  • Stainless steel (304, 316)
  • Ductile iron (class 35, Grade 65-45-12)

Equipment & Capacity

What we run on the floor

We operate a focused, tightly maintained fleet rather than a massive, chaotic job shop. Every machine on our floor is regularly calibrated, programmed directly by our technical team, and dedicated strictly to high-precision OEM work.

Process Capabilities

Built for Drawing-Driven Machining

At SCPM, we don't just glance at an RFQ to quote a price. We analyze your geometry, material behavior, and tolerance stack-ups from an engineering standpoint. By planning the entire milling route upfront, we ensure our shop floor execution perfectly matches your technical and delivery expectations.

3-Axis & 4-Axis Milling

From precision housings to complex contoured rotating components, our multi-axis setups machine intricate features in fewer operations — maintaining tight concentricity, true position, and feature-to-feature alignment.

Tight feature control

Built on a rotating machinery manufacturing background, we excel at holding critical tolerances. Whether it’s precise bore alignments, flat sealing surfaces, or deep-pocket milling, we manage material stress and toolpath strategy to prevent distortion.

Prototype to repeat production

We are built to handle both small-batch technical prototyping and ongoing OEM repeat orders. With detailed process logging and proven machine setups, your 100th milled part will fit exactly like the very first sample.

Quality & Inspection

Documentation you can hand to your QA

Every job is built around traceability. CMM data, material certificates, and inspection reports stay with the part file from RFQ to delivery.

CMM Inspection

Sub-micron verification via Hexagon CMM.

Every critical geometry is measured, not estimated. We provide comprehensive, full-dimensional inspection reports to accompany your parts upon request.

Material Traceability

Full transparency from raw stock to finish.

We retain Mill Test Certificates (MTC) for every single heat lot. All post-processing, heat-treatment, and plating reports are archived and instantly retrievable.

FAIR & PPAP Standards

Ready for your strict compliance needs.

We routinely handle First Article Inspections, PPAP packages, and ISIR tracking. Tell us your quality template, and we will deliver the documentation to match.

Floor Process Control

Prevention over correction.

We maintain stability across production runs through locked-down toolpaths, frequent in-process gauging, and disciplined sampling before any parts leave the floor.

Our Process

From RFQ to delivery

  1. CNC Milling workflow — Step 1: RFQ & DFM Review
    Step 01

    RFQ & DFM Review

Fast, expert review within 24 hours. We check your drawings to flag manufacturing risks, suggest cost-saving DFM changes, and lock down inspection points early.

  2. CNC Milling workflow — Step 2: Programming & Fixturing
    Step 02

    Programming & Fixturing

No guesswork on the machine. Toolpaths are verified via CAM simulation, and custom-engineered fixtures ensure absolute repeatability across every production batch.

  3. CNC Milling workflow — Step 3: Rough & Finish Machining
    Step 03

    Rough & Finish Machining

Metal cutting handled by experts. We manage material deformation during heavy roughing, then transition to precision finishing to hold your tightest tolerances.

  4. CNC Milling workflow — Step 4: Inspection
    Step 04

    Inspection

Clear data, no surprises. We run full dimensional checks on critical features and issue transparent CMM inspection reports backed by traceable material data.

  5. CNC Milling workflow — Step 5: Packaging & Shipping
    Step 05

    Packaging & Shipping

Built for long-distance transport. We apply anti-rust packaging, build heavy-duty custom crates, and handle all international export documentation directly.

Finishing Add-On

Need finishing on these parts?

Anodize, passivation, plating, powder coating, bead blast, polish, and water-based spray paint coordinated through SCPM as a packaged add-on to your cnc milling order — one drawing, one PO, no separate finishing supplier to manage.

Common Questions

Frequently asked about cnc milling

What tolerances can you hold on milled parts?

Our standard milling tolerance is ±0.01 mm. For critical dimensions we can achieve ±0.005 mm with appropriate fixturing and verified toolpaths.

What is the largest part you can machine in a single setup?

Up to 1,050 × 920 × 990 mm on our 4-axis horizontal machining center. Larger parts can be machined in multiple setups with precision datum transfer.

Do you handle both prototypes and production runs?

Yes. We support single-piece prototypes through high-volume repeat production. Fixturing and programs are retained for future orders.

Which materials can you mill?

We focus on carbon steel (A36, 1045), stainless steel (304, 316), and ductile iron (Class 35, Grade 65-45-12) — the grades we run day-to-day on industrial OEM work. If your drawing calls for something close to these, send it over and we'll confirm whether we can source and machine it before we quote.
